Culture and Traveler's Guide

A visit to Winn Parish is a step back in time. Historical homes and buildings abound. Winn is rich in stories and folklore of outlaws, bandits, presidents, generals, the Civil War, Indians, railroad men, oil men, and politicians. Winnfield is the home of three governors: Huey and Earl Long and O.K. Allen. Here you can visit the Old Louisiana and Arkansas Depot that houses three museums in one. The forestry section changes its displays regularly and is always of interest. Nearby Kisatchie National Forest offers picnic areas and trails to enjoy the beautiful natural settings. Whether hiking, fishing, hunting, canoeing or camping, Winn Parish is a true Sportsman's Paradise. Fairs and festivals are scheduled regularly throughout the parish. Get out and explore the parish or visit over coffee at a local gathering spot. We want you to spend some time with us. For more information, contact: Winn Parish Tourist Commission, (318) 628-5928.
